Who is Toughest Animal in The World?

It’s neither elephant nor was dinosaur it’s none other than tardigrades it can survive 30 years without food and water. Found that organism, which remains safe even in the midst of dangerous radiation in space. Tardigrades have the ability to tolerate radiation 1000 times more than humans. They absorb ultraviolet radiation and convert it into non-harmful rays. The radiation due to which even a healthy person ends up in death in days or weeks, a small sea creature remains fine even after suffering thousand times of that radiation. This creature is also called Water Bear or Tardigrade. Tardigrades are so strong that even the deadly radiation of space is neutralized on them. Now this organism can be used in medical science.

The eight-legged tardigrade is an animal found in water, which is small enough to be seen properly only under a microscope. In the adult stage, it is 1.5 millimeters long, while the smallest organism is 0.1 millimeters long. In the year 1773, due to its size, it was called Little Water Bear. Within three years, it got a new name – tardigrade. After this, tardigrades started appearing everywhere, from the deep sea to the tops of mountains and even near volcanoes. Yes, there is a special reason for the presence of these very small creatures even at the place of fire. It can survive at a temperature of more than 300 degrees. By the way, it is also visible in the opposite conditions, such as in the moss within the river or the sea.

However, what is most surprising to scientists is the ability of tardigrades to tolerate radiation. On the one hand, humans and other animals cannot tolerate the light attack of gamma rays, while this organism has the ability to tolerate 1000 times more radiation than humans.

They also survive in the vacuum of space, where no one can survive due to no air and cosmic rays. This thing came out in the use of the European Space Agency. This has also strengthened the hypothesis that there will be life somewhere in space. This is the reason why there is talk of trying tardigrade, which is considered to be the hardest animal in the world, in medical science too. It may be that with its help, the effect of radiation in hospitals can be reduced or new discovery can be made with the help of radiation itself

By the way, this discovery about tardigrade is the gift of India. Here the researchers of the Indian Institute of Science tried to understand its effect by placing the tardigrade in extreme conditions. During this information came out that they also tolerate radiation and heat. This study was published in the online science journal Science Mag.

Actually, there was a germicidal UV lamp in the lab of the institute. The tardigrade was brought in contact with this lamp. Even after being continuously exposed to UV rays, these creatures ended their lives by completing their lives. It is believed that the structure of the shield found on their body is such, which protects them from the effects of radiation. The gene found in the shield was named Paramacrobiotus. It is actually a protective fluorescent shield, which absorbs ultraviolet radiation and turns it into harmless blue light.

According to the researchers, the ‘Paramacrobiotics’ of this organism can be removed and transferred to other organisms so that they can be saved from the effects of radiation.
