As per the newest reports coming in, three priority groups of healthcare workers, frontline workers, and 60-plus population with comorbidities will be able to take the third and precautionary dose without any sort of registration!
No Registration Required For Precautionary Third Dose
The third precautionary dose is given to the citizens and is the same as the first two doses, as confirmed by the government.
And now, as per the sources in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, three priority groups of healthcare workers, frontline workers, and 60-plus population with comorbidities can get book an online appointment or walk in to any vaccination centre.
“There is no need for a new registration on CoWIN. Those who have taken two doses of Covid vaccine can directly take an appointment or walk in to any vaccination center.”
The source also revealed that online appointment facilities will be available from Saturday, 8 January 2022. Whereas, the on-site appointment for vaccination will begin from January 10.
As per the government, the “precautionary” dose would be the same as the first two doses. The health ministry has said that people above 60 years of age will not be required to provide a prescription or medical certificate in order to co-morbidity for vaccination.
How To Get Precautionary Third Dose?
The third dose for the three categories were announced by Prime Minster Narendra Modi from January 10.
We recently shared that the next chapter in India’s vaccination drive has begun as children between the ages 15-18 can now be inoculated. Already over 8 lakh teens have registered on the government’s CoWin portal to receive a dose of Covaxin.
Booster shots or an additional third dose will be given to health workers, frontline workers and vulnerable senior citizens above the age of 60 from January 10. A booster shot would provide an extra layer of security from severe infection for adults who are already fully vaccinated.
For the precautionary dose, the beneficiary must have crossed nine months (39 weeks) since the administration of the second dose. Beneficiaries will receive reminder messages from Co-WIN. The dose will be reflected in the digital vaccination certificates.
